What was the Dalton Highway for us? It was the most challenging, most remote place we had ever decided to take Big Emma. And what is it now? Did it live up to our dreams, to the high expectations we had set for it?

Emma, Big Emma….names are confusing around here. What’s up with that? Did we just name our Bus after me, its owner? This is often a question that needs some clarification.
Guns are an important piece of American culture. Loved, loathed, controversial, dangerous. But nowhere is gun culture as visible as in Alaska. An outsider’s perspective on the issue.
As I gazed upon the ice, I could barely breathe for wonder. It was massive, a living landscape of white, accented by a deep, solid blue. And dirty, covered with rocks and sand and the leftover dust of ages of moulding the earth to its power.
Along the Alaska Highway, we made our way towards The Last Frontier. Just like the gold rush prospectors over 100 years ago, we yet had to find out if the real Alaska could live up to the one in our dreams.
Banff is beautiful. Like really beautiful. And practically everybody who we have met so far has told us to go to Banff. They have all been to Banff and it was great. So, of course, we went to Banff.
Welcome to our house. It’s pretty small, and it rolls around a lot. It has three floors: an upper level, a ground floor, and a basement. It also has many different rooms – a sun room, a semi-detachable kitchen, two bedrooms that each sleep two, a library, and a living and dining room. I’m sorry, but we don’t have a bathroom. If you need to go, feel free to just step outside, or we can make a more civilized pit stop, if that’s what you prefer. Please, come in. I’ll give you the grand tour.
The city of Missoula is a melting pot of the hip outdoorsy and the classic Old West, and we couldn’t help but wonder about those subtle differences that make this place stand out from the crowd.
“We expect there to be regular hiccups, periodic breakdowns, and the occasional emergency. But hopefully, they will be few and far between”.
